Chapter 14: The Stolen Fiancé

Jing Yunluo confided in Fu Chen about the situation between her second uncle and Yang Wan, concluding with a remark: “So, be careful around my second uncle from now on; he’s got too many schemes, like SpongeBob.”
Fu Chen couldn’t help but laugh.
“So, are you planning to play matchmaker and bring those two together?”
“Yeah!” Jing Yunluo nodded. “They clearly have mutual feelings. It would be such a pity if they couldn’t be together, wouldn’t it?”
“Are you talking about them or us?” Fu Chen asked with a smile.
“Whoever you think it is, that’s who it is,” Jing Yunluo said, shrugging innocently.
“Does this plan require my involvement?”
Fu Chen asked thoughtfully.
Jing Yunluo shook her head. “No need to help with the busy stuff. But when we have dinner tonight, you’ll see a good show.”
As she spoke, Jing Yunluo suddenly felt dizzy.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, maybe just a bit tired these past few days, didn’t rest well, feeling a bit lightheaded.”
She didn’t tell the truth; she wasn’t really tired. It was because she had overexerted her spiritual power while treating Jing Yan’s leg, which caused the dizziness. A few days’ rest would fix it.
“There are only a few hours left before Miss Yang’s blind date. Where do you want to go?”
“Hmm… let’s eat! My second uncle has been glaring at everyone all afternoon, making it impossible to eat properly, and I had to tend to his injury… it was torture.”
Jing Yunluo pouted, looking wronged.
Fu Chen reached out and pinched her cheek gently, his tone soft: “Alright, alright, let’s eat. Hot pot or barbecue? You pick.”
“Hmm… I remember there’s a place near your company that serves both hot pot and barbecue, let’s go there! Best of both worlds!”
“Okay, your choice.”
“By the way, have you met that Gu from the Gu family?”
Jing Yunluo was happily eating barbecue while Fu Chen was adding ingredients to the hot pot.
“Yes, I have. About a year ago, my company ran into some trouble. If it weren’t for his help, I’m afraid my family would have gone bankrupt before my grandfather woke up.”
Fu Chen frowned. “Why didn’t he come to me?”
Jing Yunluo was momentarily stunned and looked up at Fu Chen. “Are you serious? I remember you and Su Wanwan were on good terms back then, but with me… it was just average.”
“Sorry, I…”
Fu Chen suddenly recalled. Yes, his attitude towards Jing Yunluo before had been extremely cold.

What was he thinking earlier, asking such a question!
Jing Yunluo didn’t mind; after all, strictly speaking, Fu Chen owed an apology to the original owner, not her. So if anyone should be apologized to, it should be the original owner.
“It’s okay. Let bygones be bygones. At least now, the two of us are doing well, aren’t we?”
Jing Yunluo picked up a piece of meat and put it into Fu Chen’s bowl. Looking at her, Fu Chen felt no less guilt inside.
However, this was exactly what Jing Yunluo wanted: the more guilty Fu Chen felt, the more he would depend on her!
This was Jing Yunluo’s first time carrying out a strategy mission, so she wasn’t sure exactly how to make the other person fall completely in love with her. She could only rely on her understanding of human nature to take a gamble.
Had she ever loved anyone?
It seemed not, but Jing Yunluo had a vague memory…
“Lolo, once my uncle agrees to us being together, let’s get married!”
Fu Chen’s words interrupted her thoughts.
Forget it, no matter what, the current mission was the most important.
[By the way, what’s Fu Chen’s current affection level toward me?]
[Querying now… Target’s affection level: 65%]
[Tsk, only that much?]
[Yes, Master. An affection level of 65% cannot be called love; at most, it’s liking.]
[Alright, from now on, report any changes in affection level to me immediately.]
[Understood, Master!]
Jing Yunluo glanced at Fu Chen. Only 65% affection and he’s already talking about marriage? How could he say that?
“Lolo?”
Fu Chen noticed Jing Yunluo’s silence and suddenly felt a bit worried.
Jing Yunluo sighed. “Fu Chen, let’s talk about marriage after you truly love me.”
“Love? I… I love you.”
Jing Yunluo wiggled a finger. “No, no, no. Fu Chen, you don’t understand what love really is yet. Don’t try to fool me! Whether you love me or not, I can tell.”
Although Fu Chen didn’t know how Jing Yunluo could tell such things, one thing was clear: if he couldn’t prove his love for her, he probably wouldn’t be able to be with her for the rest of his life.
“Alright, I’ll prove it to you!”
Fu Chen’s eyes were resolute, his attitude firm. This made Jing Yunluo, who had been annoyed moments ago, feel a bit happier.
“Eat quickly. After dinner, we’ll go watch the fun!”
Jing Yunluo began eagerly feeding Fu Chen.
“Okay.”

Yang Wan’s “blind date” happened a little earlier than Jing Yunluo expected.
“Miss Yang, don’t worry. Yunluo has already explained everything to me. I will definitely make the right moves to help you win a handsome man’s heart!”
Gu Ning was straightforward, which caught Yang Wan off guard.
“Thank you, Mr. Gu.”
“If you really want to thank me, help me design a set of clothes!”
Yang Wan smiled and nodded. “Alright, from now on, all your clothes will be designed by me.”
“Oh, you’re too kind. After all, Miss Yang is a hot designer right now. Having you design my clothes is already me taking advantage.”
Yang Wan could see the sincerity in Gu Ning, and since Jing Yunluo had told her about Gu Ning’s timely help, her impression of him improved considerably.
They had a pleasant meal, chatting happily, feeling as if they had known each other forever.
Not far away, behind a screen, Jing Yan was much less pleased.
The spot Jing Yunluo chose allowed a clear view of Yang Wan and Gu Ning’s interactions, but absolutely no sound.
This had left Jing Yan uneasy these past few days.
“Let’s go home. I’m not interested in spying on other people’s affairs.”
Jing Yan was a bit angry—angry that Gu Ning had won Yang Wan’s favor and more angry at his own helplessness.
“Hey, hey, don’t!”
Su Wanwan blocked Jing Yan’s way. “Uncle, since you’ve been spying for so long, a few more minutes won’t hurt! Besides… you said you wanted to keep an eye on Sister Wanwan. What does it mean if you leave now?”
Faced with his niece, Jing Yan was truly helpless. He could only do as Jing Yunluo said and sit quietly, watching the girl he liked happily chatting with another man.
“Uncle, if you like her, why don’t you confess?”
Jing Yan remained silent.
Jing Yunluo couldn’t bear it any longer. She really wanted to ask Jing Yan what he was thinking. His wife was out on a blind date, and he was still trying to avoid the situation!
Was this really going to be a “chasing wife funeral pyre” scenario?
Jing Yunluo glanced at Fu Chen beside her…
Alright, she got it. Out of these two men, at least one had to be chasing his wife to the point of ruin, right? Could she choose Fu Chen to be the one burning at the altar?
After all, he was her actual uncle—she couldn’t bear to do that to him.
But the boyfriend? A freebie. She could definitely let him have it.
