Chapter 10: The Stolen Fiancé
Jing Yunluo took a sip of wine and pondered for a long time. There was no other way—she had to swiftly win over Fu Chen.
Honestly, Fu Chen was a difficult person with a prickly personality, not the type she liked at all.
But there was no choice; her mission was to win over Fu Chen.
As she was thinking of a plan, a blue-haired guy approached.
“Hey, miss, have a drink with me!”
The blue-haired fellow plopped down beside Jing Yunluo uninvited, his eyes full of ill intent.
Jing Yunluo rolled her eyes, not wanting to engage. She could take on ten of these petty thugs with a single punch!
Yang Wan, however, quickly pulled Jing Yunluo closer and said, “Sorry, my sister doesn’t want to drink with you.”
“Oh really? Then how about you, beautiful lady? Have a drink with me?”
The blue-haired man shifted his attention to Yang Wan.
Jing Yunluo’s temper flared instantly.
“You little brat, flirting with your auntie now?”
Without hesitation, Jing Yunluo splashed her wine right into the blue-haired guy’s face.
“Consider this drink a gift—no need to thank me!”
She grabbed Yang Wan and tried to leave, but the blue-haired man blocked their way.
“You filthy woman, how dare you splash me?”
Jing Yunluo thought today was definitely going to end in a fight. Suddenly, a tall figure stood in front of her…
“Get lost!”
“Who the hell are you?”
The blue-haired man wasn’t willing to back down and seemed ready to fight Fu Chen.
Jing Yunluo pulled Yang Wan aside instead.
“Alright, no need for me to get involved. Let’s just watch the show.”
“So this is your fiancé?”
Yang Wan was curious. Looking at Fu Chen, it didn’t seem like he didn’t care about their Yunluo.
“To be precise, he’s my ex-fiancé.”
Jing Yunluo crossed her legs leisurely, holding Yang Wan’s hand with one hand and her phone in the other, ready to call the police at any moment.
She wasn’t worried about Fu Chen getting hurt; she just feared that the thug might be seriously injured.
With her around, there was no way Fu Chen would lose.
Sure enough, just when the blue-haired man tried to smash Fu Chen with a bottle, he slipped on a banana peel and fell flat on his back!
Fu Chen immediately looked at Jing Yunluo, knowing full well that this incident was probably her doing.
The blue-haired man hit his head and passed out.
—
The scene instantly turned chaotic. Many people were calling the police, but only Jing Yunluo quietly dialed for an ambulance.
After all, if something serious happened, Fu Chen would be in trouble too.
When the police arrived, the three of them went along to give statements.
As for the blue-haired man, he was at the hospital.
By the time they left the police station, night had fallen completely.
“I’ll take you back,” Fu Chen said, noticing Jing Yunluo’s frequent yawns and furrowing his brow with concern.
“Thanks, that’d be great.”
Free rides were not to be passed up.
In the car, Jing Yunluo and Yang Wan sat in the back seat.
Fu Chen found it a little awkward to see Jing Yunluo choose the back seat voluntarily. Even after breaking off their engagement, she would usually sit in the front passenger seat…
Maybe it was because she had a friend with her tonight.
Fu Chen comforted himself with this thought.
“I’m exhausted. I’m going to nap a bit. Wake me up when we get there.”
Yang Wan winked at Jing Yunluo, clearly trying to create a chance for her to be alone with Fu Chen.
“It’s so late—Grandpa Jing and Second Uncle must be worried.”
Fu Chen understood Yang Wan’s intentions and started chatting with Jing Yunluo.
Jing Yunluo yawned again. “It’s fine. Before I left, I told Grandpa I might be out all night.
“As for Second Uncle… he’s in a foul mood lately! He’s too busy being angry to bother with us.”
Yet at home, Jing Yan was nearly frantic.
“Uncle Zhang, still no luck reaching them?”
Jing Yan anxiously asked the steward.
Uncle Zhang shook his head. “Both Miss Jing’s and Miss Yang’s phones are off.”
“It’s so late. Where could those two young ladies have gone?”
Jing Yan frowned deeply. He already regretted speaking so sharply to Yang Wan earlier. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be unreachable now.
“Second Young Master, should we call the police?”
Uncle Zhang hesitated. The patriarch had just been discharged from the hospital; if he knew the young lady was missing, it might cause him serious distress.
Jing Yan had thought of this too, so he hadn’t said anything. Instead, he sent the Jing family’s bodyguards to search for them.
“Second Uncle, Uncle Zhang, why aren’t you resting yet?”
Jing Yunluo pulled Yang Wan inside, with Fu Chen following behind.
“Where did you go? Why were your phones off?”
Jing Yan’s tone was sharp with worry.
Yang Wan remained silent; she didn’t know what to say to Jing Yan, nor what she could say.
Jing Yunluo shrugged. “Phones died and shut off.”
Jing Yan saw through her evasion.
He glanced at Yang Wan but gave up—she clearly didn’t want to talk.
Then he turned to Fu Chen, who was standing at the back. “Fu family boy, you explain yourself!”
After all, this man was supposed to be his niece’s fiancé. Even if not anymore, he was still Fu Chen’s senior.
Fu Chen looked at Jing Yunluo and sighed. “Second Uncle Jing, I ran into Yunluo and Miss Yang at the bar.
“A thug was harassing them, so I confronted him. That’s why we were delayed at the police station giving statements.”
“A bar? Jing Yunluo! You’ve got some nerve! You’ve even learned to go to bars now?”
Jing Yan was furious, pointing at Jing Yunluo, speechless.
“Second Uncle, you know why Wanwan and I went to the bar.
“Besides, I’ve learned self-defense since elementary school. If I dare to go to a bar, I’m capable of protecting myself.”
Jing Yunluo was unafraid because she knew Second Uncle had always cared for the original owner well.
When Jing was around, Jing Yan was stricter with her.
But after her parents divorced and her father passed away soon after, Jing Yan became extremely indulgent.
Even when abroad, he often sent gifts. Whatever the original owner wanted, Jing Yan would provide.
So now, Jing Yan was reluctant to scold Jing Yunluo seriously, especially since their visit to the bar was largely due to his own careless words.
Yang Wan said nothing, bypassed everyone, and headed upstairs to her room.
Jing Yan watched her retreating figure, opening his mouth but unsure what to say.
Jing Yunluo approached Jing Yan and gently patted his shoulder. “Second Uncle, sometimes you can’t be so stubborn. When it’s time to soften, you have to soften.”
“You brat, go rest in your room.”
Jing Yan’s tone was helpless and weary. After Jing Yunluo left, he looked at Fu Chen.
“Fu family boy, when my niece chatted with me, she often mentioned you.
“She kept saying that once you got married, she could finally put down her burdens. But I never expected…”
Fu Chen knew Jing Yan was about to hold him accountable.
“Second Uncle Jing…”
“Stop. I’ve heard enough of that, Mr. Fu. I can’t bear it anymore. Now I just want to ask you one thing—what exactly is my Yunluo to you?”
