Just as those words left her lips, a sound echoed from behind—a book hitting the floor.

It was Wen Mubai, the English class representative for Grade 12, Science Class A. He was also the senior who tutored Jiang Wuyang in English every day, and, more significantly, the person Jiang Wuyang had once held in the deepest, most tender corner of her heart.

Upon hearing what Jiang Wuyang had said, Wen Mubai’s breathing hitched for a moment. He didn't even bother to pick up the English assignment that had slipped from his hand. His tall, cool figure strode over, and he gripped Jiang Wuyang’s hand tightly.

His brow furrowed slightly, and his typically indifferent peach-blossom eyes rippled with unrest. "You want to switch classes?!"

"Jiang Wuyang, choosing the science track was a decision we all carefully deliberated over for a day and a night. How can you just say you want to switch now?"

Beyond the irritation in Wen Mubai’s voice, there was a hint of hurt, as if he had been betrayed. "The few of us even planned out your entire future. Not to mention how much heart and effort we put into it, how could you decide on something as significant as changing your academic track without even discussing it with us?"

Wen Mubai gritted his teeth, staring fixedly at Jiang Wuyang.

Jiang Wuyang did not look away. She shook off his hand and let out a cold laugh.

"What, do you honestly think you were doing this for my own good?"

"If it were Ruan An'an, would you still force her to walk the path you’ve mapped out for her?"

Wen Mubai’s heart skipped a beat, and he instinctively retorted, "How can you compare yourself to An'an? Her health is fragile; compared to all this, her happiness is what matters most."

Jiang Wuyang said nothing, simply averting her gaze. Even though she had known the answer long ago, hearing it spoken aloud still caused her chest to tighten with a dull, aching pain.

Wen Mubai realized what he had said. He reached out in a panic to grab her hand again. "Yangyang, it’s not like that, I meant..."

Jiang Wuyang stepped back coldly, out of his reach.

Wen Mubai watched his hand grasp at empty air, his voice cutting off abruptly. Jiang Wuyang had never rejected him before... She had always been closer to him than even to Jiang Yiran. What had happened to her?

Unable to fathom it, Wen Mubai’s expression turned cold as well. "Suit yourself. Just don't come crying to me when you regret it."

Jiang Wuyang rolled her eyes at him. *You’re the one who will regret it. Your whole family will regret it.*

Wen Mubai picked up the English assignment, handed it to the teacher, and turned to leave the office. Jiang Wuyang did not care what happened after he left. She turned her attention back to Teacher Lin.

Teacher Lin was no novice; he saw exactly what was going on. Combining this with Jiang Wuyang’s habit of sleeping in class, he concluded that she truly disliked the science track and was not just acting on a whim.

"Are you certain you want to switch classes? If you are, fill out this application form and bring it back to me. I’ll process it for you."

Jiang Wuyang looked at Teacher Lin in surprise. He had been so opposed just a moment ago—how did Wen Mubai’s outburst lead to such a quick change of heart? In that case, she supposed she should actually thank Wen Mubai.

She walked back to the classroom, feeling lighthearted as she held the transfer application. As she reached the doorway, she heard the chatter of the students inside. Ruan An'an’s dainty voice was particularly prominent.

"And then? Then I told my brother, 'You bought so many cherries; what if they rot?' My brother said, 'If they rot, just give them to Xia Chuan. If he ends up in the hospital, that’s his problem.'"

The group erupted into laughter.

"An'an, your brother is so good to you, buying you whatever you want to eat." Someone said with envy.

Ruan An'an scratched her head, feigning shyness. "Huh? Hasn't it always been like this? Within his means, he’ll always make sure to satisfy me!"

The others listened, filled with envy and jealousy, grumbling in discontent.

"I wish I had a brother like that."

"It’s a pity my mom only had me."

The voices stopped abruptly when they saw Jiang Wuyang standing at the door. Jiang Wuyang acted as if she hadn't noticed their reaction and walked to her seat, sitting down in silence.

"Hey? Jiang Wuyang, what’s that in your hand?" A boy wandered over, appearing casual.

Jiang Wuyang ignored him and pulled a book over to cover the form on her desk. Because of her introverted nature and her inability to speak as sweetly as Ruan An'an—compounded by various rumors—Jiang Wuyang had never been popular and had no desk-mate. At that moment, no one could see what the paper on her desk was.

The boy who had walked over stood in front of her desk. Catching her off guard, he snatched the form from under her book.

He laughed triumphantly, running toward the front while waving the form, maliciously reading its contents aloud. As he read, the boy sensed something was wrong. It was actually a transfer application form.

Inside the classroom, the noise died down, following the boy's voice. Jiang Wuyang watched the scene coldly. When the boy stopped, she walked over and kicked him hard in the stomach.

She put every ounce of her strength into that kick. The boy collapsed against the desk behind him, his face twisted in agony.

The desk behind him toppled over, and the books inside spilled across the floor. Everyone was terrified by the sudden outburst, trembling and not daring to make a sound.

If Jiang Wuyang remembered correctly, in her past life, everyone found out she liked Wen Mubai because of this very boy. Back then, her diary had been in her desk while she went to lunch. When she returned, she found her carefully curated, perfectly protected diary covered in dust, dirty and crumpled, sitting on the podium. Even the page with her most intimate girlhood secrets was left exposed for all to see.

From then on, whenever anyone mentioned her, they would link her to Wen Mubai. Those mocking gazes were a constant reminder that she was nothing but a toad lusting after swan meat.

Jiang Wuyang walked up to the boy with measured steps. She crouched down and gently pulled the paper from his hand.

"Don't provoke me. Do you understand?"

Her voice was soft, but it carried a chilling authority. Even Ruan An'an, watching from the side, was startled. The old Jiang Wuyang had never possessed such an aura. *No! She can’t be Jiang Wuyang!* A vague sense of unease crept into Ruan An'an’s heart.

"Jiang Wuyang! You’re so arrogant, aren't you afraid the teacher will find out?!"

"Exactly, Jiang Wuyang! This is a school, not your home. If you're going to be this arrogant, just get out of school, you troublemaker!"

"Her grades are terrible and her temper is bad. It’s no wonder she’s so unpopular."

Jiang Wuyang coldly raised her eyes to look at the first person who had spoken. "Oh, and?"

The person was choked by her response, unable to say another word, though their gaze remained filled with indignation.

"The teacher is coming! The teacher is coming!" someone shouted from the hallway.

Everyone looked at Jiang Wuyang with the anticipation of watching a show, all sharing the same thought: she was doomed, as this was the class of the "She-Devil" Dean of Students.
