Chapter 8: But I Heard You Say You Wanted to Seduce Me
Secretary Xing immediately denied it.
Even if it were true, it couldn’t be admitted!
“It’s not like that. Occasionally, there are interviews abroad, though nothing significant, but they still require personal submission for Mr. Lou’s review. Miss Tang, you know our company prefers to keep a low profile; even minor news must be carefully managed so we don’t become a conspicuous target. This is standard procedure, and we hope you understand.”
“Furthermore, as you are now our company’s special correspondent, all future company-related activities must be coordinated directly with Mr. Lou.”
“...”
At this moment, Tang Yu longed desperately for time to rewind to before the contract was signed.
She would have stopped everything from happening!
Half an hour had passed since the call ended before Tang Yu reluctantly removed Lou Xizhou from her blacklist.
Just as she was brooding, her best friend Mo Xixi, who had completely forgotten about her during a trip around the world, called with a video chat.
“Darling~ I miss you so much! I’m back in Northern City!”
On the screen, Mo Xixi was dressed as coolly as a star on the runway.
Her figure was undeniably stunning. On such a hot day, not showing off would be a disservice to the exquisite physique her parents had given her.
“Did you move? Looks huge! Send me your location—I’m coming over!”
Tang Yu sent her the location.
“Girl, actually, I called mainly to ask if your engagement was off? Hahaha…”
From the start, Mo Xixi had always thought Zhou Ruancheng was a less-than-decent scoundrel, unworthy of Tang Yu.
So she had been hoping they’d break up.
But a year dragged into another.
Especially when last year’s engagement ceremony was canceled, Mo Xixi had cursed Zhou Ruancheng’s ancestors in anger.
Not only him, but Tang Yu, who couldn’t bear to part, was not spared from the scolding.
Anyone who thinks a worthless man is worth holding onto has clearly seldom met a truly good man.
“You little devil, you’re something else!” Tang Yu snapped, “We broke up. Completely. Happy now?”
“That’s more like it! Girl, I can introduce you to someone a thousand times better than Zhou Ruancheng. We’re not short of good men!”
Tang Yu surrendered outright. “No, I already have one giving me headaches. Hurry up and come steal him away.”
Just then, Tang Yu thought this was actually a great plan.
Men love beautiful women, especially those with smoking hot figures. No man can resist the temptation.
A man like Lou Xizhou had seen many beauties, but someone like Mo Xixi was definitely rare.
Xixi was a chameleon of beauty, capable of embodying any kind of charm at will. Every man who had met her so far had been unable to resist.
Sure enough, Mo Xixi’s eyes lit up!
“Really? You have to tell me if he’s my type.”
“He lives right next door,” Tang Yu winked, full of suggestion.
“Holy crap! Close proximity means first dibs! Girl, you’ve finally wised up. Go win him over and make him yours!”
“...”
When Mo Xixi arrived, Tang Yu immediately seized the opportunity under the pretext of a press release to contact Lou Xizhou.
Lou Xizhou was just about to leave when he received her message, a slight smile curving at his lips as he replied:
“Come over.”
Tang Yu grabbed the printed press release and pulled the stunningly beautiful Mo Xixi along to Lou Xizhou’s door.
Mo Xixi was thrilled—seeing her friend’s suitor was even more exciting than getting a new boyfriend herself.
Lou Xizhou, waiting by the door, saw Tang Yu arrive with a woman whose gaze was anything but ordinary, causing him to scrutinize Tang Yu’s face silently.
His wife—what was she up to?
“Mr. Lou, I won’t come in,” Tang Yu said, handing him the press release.
Lou Xizhou took it, raising a brow as he looked at her. “If any revisions are needed, I’ll point them out so Miss Tang can amend them. Come in.”
He watched her enter, enduring the woman’s blatant stare beside her.
“...”
Inside, Mo Xixi suddenly clung tightly to Tang Yu’s arm, whispering excitedly with a hushed voice.
“Oh my god, girl, your boyfriend is stunning! Every adjective I can think of fits him perfectly! You’ve got to hold on tight!”
That face! That figure! That aura! Especially that deep, resonant voice! Tsk tsk tsk...
My girl was always lucky but chose to cling to a rotten cabbage for three years!
To hell with Zhou Ruancheng!
Tang Yu glanced at her with a “Are you okay?!” look.
Whispering back, “I didn’t just bring you here to look, go seduce him!”
“I’d rather be struck by lightning!” Mo Xixi reneged on her words and turned to face Lou Xizhou.
Lou Xizhou had been watching Tang Yu’s slender figure, but her bold action drew his gaze to her.
The next second, he heard Mo Xixi loudly declare, “My friend says you’re her new boyfriend. You better hold on tight and never let her go!”
Upon hearing this, his eyes glinted with deep meaning as he looked at Tang Yu, who was blushing so fiercely she wished she could disappear. A faint smile touched his lips.
Then he looked back at Mo Xixi and said, “Don’t worry.”
She won’t run away.
“I didn’t say that. She’s making things up!” Tang Yu stammered in frustration, reaching out to hit Mo Xixi. Gritting her teeth, she said, “I’m breaking up with you today! We’re done!”
This traitorous woman!
Mo Xixi laughed heartily and turned to leave. “Then I’ll come back tomorrow to call you sister again. Bye!”
Such a nagging friend—only she could manage this, sigh!
At the iron gate, Mo Xixi found it locked and turned back.
“Handsome, the door.”
Lou Xizhou pulled out his phone and operated it. “Take care.”
As Mo Xixi stepped out, she waved her hand high in a stylish farewell.
Leaving Tang Yu alone, awkwardly facing Lou Xizhou.
Lou Xizhou watched her silently, which made Tang Yu feel even more uneasy and eager to escape.
“Mr. Lou, um… please review the press release. If any changes are needed, make them; otherwise, it’s as good as it gets.”
“Next time you bring a friend, will you bring your parents too?” Lou Xizhou asked, sounding rather hopeful.
Did he think he was going to become the ideal son-in-law?
Ha!
“Mr. Lou, I must clarify, my best friend just returned from a trip and insisted on coming along when she saw me bringing you the press release. Her words represent only herself, not my views!”
Lou Xizhou nodded slightly but stepped forward, instantly closing the distance between them.
His breath surged into her nose.
Startled, Tang Yu stumbled back but lost her footing and began to fall.
“Careful!” Lou Xizhou reached out, wrapping his arm around her slender waist and pulling her into his embrace, steadying her.
This move was utterly devastating to Tang Yu—her breath caught as her heart pounded wildly.
“L-Let go…”
“But I heard you say you wanted to seduce me,” he whispered, not loosening his grip. His hand pressed gently against her waist as he leaned down, lips brushing her ear.
“Hm?”
