Chapter Four: The Spirit Summoning Tower
Zhao Changsheng snorted coldly.
“A joke!”
The senior disciple sneered, threw down his pen, and pointed at Zhao Changsheng, cursing, “Ye Xinghe is nothing but a useless peak master! Everyone in the sanctuary knows it! You call him your master, you’re a failure too!”
“Bulls**t!” Zhao Changsheng was furious. “My master is invincible in the world!”
“Invincible? Ha! Fine, to prove you’re not a failure, do you dare to take the aptitude test with me?”
“Test it then! What’s there to be afraid of?”
“Follow me.”
Soon, Zhao Changsheng was led to the center of the grand hall, standing before a nine-tiered tower as dark as ink.
“This is the Nine-Tier Spirit Tower, forged from black jade. Lighting up two tiers qualifies you to enter the sanctuary.”
The surrounding disciples sneered, “A disciple taken by a useless peak master is naturally useless too. I doubt this kid can even light up the Spirit Tower!”
“Twenty years old, with only five layers of Qi Refining—what else but a failure!”
“With such aptitude, forget about entering the sanctuary; even some third-rate sects wouldn’t accept him!”
Amidst their ridicule, Zhao Changsheng felt a deep sense of injustice. Striding forward, he placed his hand on the Spirit Tower.
Nothing happened.
“What’s going on?”
Zhao Changsheng was momentarily stunned.
“Haha! Just as I said, this failure can’t even light the Spirit Tower!”
“A failure’s disciple is a failure indeed!”
“Get out! You have no right to join Dayan Sanctuary!”
The crowd grew careless, mocking him without restraint, some even shouting for him to leave.
It shouldn’t be this way.
Could it be that my master deceived me?
Just as confusion clouded Zhao Changsheng’s mind, the Spirit Tower before him suddenly stirred, and a dazzling purple light flared.
One tier, two tiers, three tiers…
The crowd's laughter was instantly choked off, their throats seemingly grasped by an invisible hand.
The purple light intensified!
Ascending all the way to the ninth tier, even the tower’s peak radiated radiant purple light!
In the blink of an eye, the nine-tiered black Spirit Tower shimmered with purple brilliance, and the entire hall was engulfed in rising purple mist, dazzling beyond compare.
Everyone was dumbfounded, staring in stunned silence, their expressions priceless.
“Roar!!!”
The hall suddenly trembled as the purple light transformed into a lifelike purple-gold divine dragon, circling Zhao Changsheng once before soaring to the hall’s ceiling and howling toward the heavens!
Boom!
Winds rose, clouds swirled, stars sparkled; on the eastern horizon, vast purple clouds emerged. Within the clouds danced celestial maidens, and auspicious beasts galloped back and forth.
“Purple Qi arises from the East, strange phenomena abound. Has a Grand Ascension expert come to tour?”
Deep within the sanctuary, an aged Dharma protector witnessed the scene, shocked beyond words, exclaiming aloud.
“This is an anomaly of the Spirit Tower!”
Several peak masters noticed the commotion and hurried over.
“A disciple with the signs of ascension… and he wishes to join Tongtian Peak, under that useless Ye Xinghe?”
“Is the Spirit Tower malfunctioning?”
“That useless Ye Xinghe couldn’t possibly have found such an outstanding disciple…”
The peak masters exchanged grim smiles, suspecting the Spirit Tower had aged and malfunctioned.
“The Spirit Tower is flawless!”
The elderly Dharma protector stepped forward, scolding, “The Spirit Tower is one of the sanctuary’s greatest treasures, forged from the bone of the Black Dragon by the first Holy Lord—it never errs!”
Inside the hall, the crowd finally regained their senses, gazing at Zhao Changsheng with disbelief.
In their eyes were fear, envy, jealousy, and countless other emotions.
“A bunch of blind frogs in a well!”
Seeing their reactions, Zhao Changsheng smirked inwardly and snorted, “Now, am I qualified to join?”
“You… you…”
The senior disciple in charge of registration trembled, pointing at Zhao Changsheng with a horrified expression.
“If you dare disrespect my master again, we can settle this on the Death Match Stage!”
Zhao Changsheng’s eyes flashed with fierce light, a killing intent veiled within.
The senior disciple turned pale instantly; the Death Match Stage was a place of death!
To face off against someone with ascension potential there meant certain doom!
Suddenly, a streak of rainbow light shot in, landing outside the hall—it was the Peak Master of Mingyue Peak.
“Who lit the Spirit Tower?” the Mingyue Peak Master asked anxiously, his expression intense.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
All eyes turned to Zhao Changsheng.
“Heh, truly a peerless talent. Mingyue Peak is blessed. You shall join my sect, and I will teach you the strongest cultivation method!”
“A joke! Since when do you have the strongest method?”
Another peak master flew over to stand beside him.
“He’s mine!”
Yet another peak master arrived, blocking the two.
Soon, peak masters from all major peaks gathered, their faces flushed as they argued and undermined one another.
Zhao Changsheng found it amusing. Before my master, you are but a bunch of clowns!
My master is already a Half-Saint; your ignorance is simply laughable!
“Registration is complete… Junior Brother Zhao, you haven’t received your pills and spirit stones yet?”
“No need.”
Zhao Changsheng grabbed his disciple robes and left, too lazy even to accept the pills and spirit stones.
Seeing his indifference, the peak masters were baffled.
“Who did he apprentice under? Could it be the Holy Lord?”
“It’s… Tongtian Peak.”
“What?”
“That useless Ye Xinghe?”
“Ridiculous! Such a waste!”
“That failure—what right does he have to teach a disciple with ascension potential? He’d only lead them astray!”
“We cannot let him ruin the sanctuary’s future!”
The group of peak masters grew incensed, their anger mounting as they pursued him.
Meanwhile, outside the main hall of Tongtian Peak, in a pavilion, Ye Xinghe was leisurely brewing tea. Seeing the strange phenomena above Mingyue Peak, he shook his head.
“Young people are always impatient.”
By the time the tea was nearly finished, Zhao Changsheng returned, followed by a furious group of peak masters radiating hostility.
“Master!”
Zhao Changsheng respectfully bowed before Ye Xinghe. “These peak masters followed me, all trying to forcefully take me as their disciple.”
“Didn’t I tell you to keep a low profile?” Ye Xinghe frowned.
This kid is too high-profile; now there’s trouble, and it complicates matters.
“Master, I only used half my strength, yet the commotion was still so great…”
Zhao Changsheng said with grievance.
He truly hadn’t expected such a fuss; he only wanted to light the tower quietly.
Ye Xinghe shook his head helplessly—this system was too extraordinary, even the cheap disciple gained immensely.
At that moment, a group of peak masters rushed up.
“Ye Xinghe! Hand over your disciple immediately!”
“Let him join my Divine Medicine Peak; he’ll become a legendary Medicine Immortal, shaking the ages!”
“Nonsense! My Lingjian Peak is the strongest! Train him in the supreme sword path, and he’ll become an invincible Sword Immortal, ruling for eternity!”
“Joining Mingyue Peak is the true path…”
As the crowd once again erupted into fierce dispute, a golden light descended, and a figure in white robes appeared—the Holy Lord himself.
“Ye Xinghe, let him become my disciple. He is the sanctuary’s sole Sacred Son and the next inheritor of the Holy Lord’s legacy!”
At these words, everyone froze.
“No way! The Holy Lord should respect seniority!”
“Does the Holy Lord think that makes him untouchable?”
“I challenge you to a duel! Only the victor may take him as disciple!”
