Chapter Twelve: Taking Another Disciple
Ye Xinghe snorted coldly. The spiritual power in his hand suddenly surged, transforming into countless tangible threads of energy that slithered like agile silver snakes, darting swiftly toward the meridians all over Hei Wu’s body.
Hei Wu’s eyes widened in terror as he felt this unfamiliar and domineering force rampaging inside him. He struggled to resist but found himself utterly immobilized, as if nailed to the void. Helpless, he could only watch the threads of spiritual power mercilessly tear apart the meridians he had painstakingly cultivated for years.
“Ahhh!” Hei Wu screamed like a slaughtered pig, a piercing wail that shattered the silence and sent chills down the spines of all nearby.
In moments, the spiritual energy within him erupted uncontrollably like a breached dam, wildly leaking out.
His once robust and full aura instantly waned, and his body visibly shriveled and hunched. Cold sweat poured down like rain, soaking his clothes.
Ye Xinghe withdrew his hand, expressionless, as he looked down at Hei Wu collapsed in the dirt like a puddle of mud. “I’m sparing your miserable life. Go back to the Sima family and tell Lu Qianqiu this: from now on, Ximen Feixue is a disciple of Tongtian Peak! Tongtian Peak is not some soft target for anyone to bully. Anyone who dares to come after us again will surely die! Understand?”
Hei Wu gasped heavily, his face full of resentment, but too frightened to rebel, he could only tremble and reply, “Un… understood.”
“Hurry up and leave!”
With a fierce shout from Ye Xinghe, a roaring wave of sound blasted Hei Wu’s ears.
He dared not waste another moment, scrambling to his feet in a daze and hastily signaling the equally frightened black-clad men, “What are you standing around for? Let’s go!”
The group of black-clad men, as if granted amnesty, helped Hei Wu up and fled back the way they came, vanishing in the blink of an eye.
At this moment, Ximen Feixue still leaned on his longsword, kneeling on one knee, gasping heavily. Blood poured from his wounds, and he looked utterly battered.
He raised his head to Ye Xinghe, eyes filled with awe. “Thank you, benefactor, for your timely rescue! Ximen Feixue has no way to repay you. If you hadn’t arrived when you did, the Ximen family would have been wiped out today.”
With that, he struggled to stand and bow in gratitude.
Ye Xinghe raised a hand to stop him, frowning slightly as he stepped forward to examine his injuries. “Don’t move. Your wounds are severe.”
He then placed a palm glowing with gentle light on Ximen Feixue’s shoulder. A soft spiritual power slowly infused into him, helping to calm his chaotic blood and repair damaged meridians.
The members of the Ximen family gathered around, and Ximen Zhenyue was moved to tears, kneeling with a thud. “Thank you, Peak Master Ye, for saving our lives. The Ximen family will remember this for generations. If there is any task, we will go through fire and water without hesitation!” The other relatives followed suit, kneeling and bowing with gratitude.
Ye Xinghe quickly helped Ximen Zhenyue to his feet and said gently, “Master Ximen, please rise. Since I intervened, I will never stand idly by while you suffer. Besides, I came here for another reason.”
He then turned his gaze to Ximen Feixue, a glimmer of expectation in his eyes. “Ximen Feixue, you heard what I said earlier. I intend to take you as my disciple, bring you back to Tongtian Peak, teach you the cultivation techniques, and help you take revenge. Are you willing?”
Upon hearing this, a fierce light ignited in Ximen Feixue’s eyes. Without hesitation, he knelt and kowtowed three times, “I am willing! I have dreamed of becoming a disciple under a master to learn powerful skills and avenge today’s disgrace! I earnestly beg Master to accept me!”
A pleased smile appeared on Ye Xinghe’s face as he helped Ximen Feixue up. “Good! From now on, you are a disciple of Tongtian Peak. Once your wounds heal, we will return to the peak.”
He then turned to Ximen Zhenyue. “Master Ximen, rest assured. With Feixue under my tutelage, I will guide him carefully. If the Ximen family faces difficulties in the future, as long as it is just and reasonable, Tongtian Peak will lend a hand.”
Ximen Zhenyue’s lips trembled with emotion. “Thank you, Hero Ye—no, thank you, Master Ye! Your words give the Ximen family hope.”
Suddenly, a familiar, cold system alert sounded in Ye Xinghe’s mind: “Ding! Congratulations, host, on completing the disciple recruitment task. Reward: one thousand superior spirit crystals, which will help you rapidly absorb the spiritual energy of heaven and earth to enrich your own power.
Additionally, one set of divine weapon forging blueprints. Gather the materials to forge a peerless divine weapon of extraordinary power. Keep up the good work to strengthen your sect.”
Ye Xinghe’s heart leapt. Before he could examine the rewards closely, the system chimed again: “Detected new disciple Ximen Feixue’s damaged meridians and foundation, which hinder future cultivation and growth. Special reward: one copy of the ‘Primordial Restoration Scripture.’ This ancient lost secret manual specializes in repairing damaged meridians and reconstructing spiritual roots. When cultivated to completion, it can restore a damaged body to its original state or even surpass its former strength.”
A spark of delight flashed in Ye Xinghe’s eyes. He turned to Ximen Feixue solemnly. “Disciple, your injuries are serious. I worry about your future cultivation. This scripture is my special gift to you.”
With a wave of his hand, the manual appeared out of thin air, floating before Ximen Feixue.
Ximen Feixue stared in astonishment and instinctively reached out to catch it. The scripture felt warm in his hands, faintly pulsing with spiritual energy that dispelled the chill in his body.
He focused on the cover, where the six grand characters “Primordial Restoration Scripture” were written in flowing calligraphy. Flipping through the pages, he couldn’t understand it at once but sensed it was extraordinary.
“Ma… Master, this scripture is too precious. I…” Ximen Feixue’s eyes reddened. His master had just saved his entire family’s life and now bestowed such a rare treasure before even ascending the peak. The favor overwhelmed him.
Ye Xinghe patted his shoulder warmly. “Don’t refuse. Now that you are my disciple, I will do my utmost to help you grow. With your meridians damaged, if you don’t repair them promptly, every step of cultivation will be difficult. This scripture is your chance. Cultivate it well.”
Besides, only if his disciple cultivated well could he truly relax and become a winner in life.
Ximen Feixue nodded solemnly, carefully tucking the scripture into his bosom. He cupped his hands and said, “Thank you, Master! I will not let you down. I will diligently study this scripture, recover soon, and train hard to bring glory to Tongtian Peak!”
Though he didn’t understand why Ye Xinghe had suddenly appeared, after all, cultivators rely on fate and destiny.
Perhaps it was his earnest desire to become a disciple of Tongtian Peak that moved the heavens to send his master to save him.
In any case, Ximen Feixue vowed to cultivate diligently.
Ye Xinghe cast a glance over Ximen Feixue and nodded slightly. “Disciple, it’s time to return to Tongtian Peak. The peak is rich in resources, with numerous cultivation manuals and training grounds that will greatly aid your future progress.”
Most importantly, he couldn’t miss the upcoming sect competition where he planned to crush those enemies.
The journey back was about to begin.
