Volume One, Chapter Five: May I Ask If There Is a Demon Here?
Click.
The prison door opened.
Bang!
The door slammed shut.
The entire sequence flowed smoothly like water.
“Hiss! You bastard, what do you want again? Don’t come any closer! Don’t come any closer!” The snake demon, with her enormous serpentine head, flicked her blood-red tongue, clutching her small body tightly as she pressed against the corner of the wall, watching Liu Yiyun steadily approach.
Seeing the snake demon in this state, Liu Yiyun felt no fear; instead, he found it strangely appealing.
He licked the corner of his mouth with his tongue.
Then, Liu Yiyun stepped forward, looking down at her with a sly, devilish smile. “Little snake, you’re being naughty. It’s been less than a day and you’ve already forgotten what you’re supposed to call me. Hehehe, are you hoping I’ll come and take good care of you?”
Hearing the word “take care” and seeing Liu Yiyun’s sinister grin, the snake demon instantly recalled the terrifying events of yesterday. Her delicate body shivered as she reluctantly muttered, “Ma... Master.”
“Ah, that’s better! Come on, show your master how well you’ve practiced the belly dance I taught you yesterday.”
The snake demon trembled as she stood up, transforming into Liu Yiyun’s favorite sultry, long-legged elder sister type.
She was furious at Liu Yiyun’s devilish behavior that made demons shudder and expressed strong condemnation.
Then she began to dance.
“Woohoo! Not bad, not bad, that’s the spirit.”
“Little snake, why so reserved? Shake your hips more.”
“Try the Ice Queen look, that contrast should be great.”
...
An hour later, Liu Yiyun left the snake demon’s cell with a look of lingering satisfaction.
Before leaving, he reminded the snake demon to be ready for his next visit.
The snake demon, alone in the corner, leaned against the wall, her sweat-drenched clothes clinging to her body, tears of regret streaming down her face.
If she were a demon on Earth, she’d already be singing the “Prisoner’s Tears” ballad by now.
Wuwuwu, how I hate this!
Wuwuwu, if I had known, I wouldn’t have eaten people in the first place, wuwuwu!
Each cell in the Demon Suppression Prison was unique; besides having ample space inside, the cells were designed differently depending on the demon imprisoned.
Soon, he arrived at the next cell.
This one was peculiar—completely sealed with only a small window on the door.
Judging by this setup, the demon inside was far more formidable than the snake demon.
Liu Yiyun stepped closer but did not open the small window to inspect the interior directly.
As an outstanding young man of the twenty-first century, he possessed proper manners and wouldn’t trespass.
“Knock, knock, knock!”
He lightly tapped the door and cleared his throat. “Hello, is there a demon inside?”
After waiting a long while, there was still no response.
To avoid misunderstandings—some uncultured demons might not understand his language—he asked again.
“Excuse me, any monster here?”
Half a minute later, still no reply.
“No demon inside? That can’t be. Maybe they haven’t gotten up yet?” Liu Yiyun muttered. He had never heard of demons needing sleep.
Damn it! Could they have escaped?
If that were true, he’d be in deep trouble. Having a demon escape during work meant no year-end bonus, a deduction of spirit stones, and severe punishment from the Enforcement Hall.
He then opened the small window and pressed his face close to peer inside.
Click.
The small window swung open.
Suddenly, a human head emitting dense black aura, with black blood oozing from its face, appeared before his eyes.
???
Damn!
Shit!
Startled, Liu Yiyun jumped back hastily.
“Damn you, you monkey! F*** you, f*** you!”
How rude was this undead head, popping out like that to scare people? Liu Yiyun cursed loudly.
But before he could finish speaking, the black aura on the head rapidly spread. With a “ding” sound, Liu Yiyun knew he’d been hit.
This wasn’t the voice of Brother Tongzi, but a strange vibration from the undead head that made the air hum.
Even the big slap technique was useless now; he was completely unconscious.
His mind went blank, eyes hollow and lifeless, looking worse than someone with severe dementia.
The undead head’s face twitched, as if smirking with satisfaction.
Then its toothless mouth opened, and a voice echoed inside Liu Yiyun’s consciousness.
“Lowly human~ Obey my command~ Open the prison door~”
As the voice sounded, Liu Yiyun, as if enchanted by a long-legged elder sister’s charm before, reached into his pants and pulled out the key, prepared to unlock the door.
[Beep, congratulations, host has suffered a spiritual attack from a corpse puppet.]
[Beep, Spirit Power +1.]
[Beep, Spirit Power +1.]
With Brother Tongzi’s pleasant voice ringing in his ears, Liu Yiyun regained clarity.
But, seriously, why was Brother Tongzi congratulating him after he got attacked?
“Pressure mask… Is this the Uchiha clan’s eye technique? Or an illusion technique?”
Anyway, it wasn’t charm magic, which was good—just one glance and you’d be mesmerized, but this thing couldn’t charm him at all.
Liu Yiyun shuddered with lingering fear, realizing he’d been careless. Fortunately, this charm ring also granted immunity to spiritual attacks.
Seeing Liu Yiyun pull out the key but hesitate to open the door, the corpse puppet inside unleashed another spiritual attack, still unaware of the reason.
“Lowly human~ Obey my command~ Open the prison door~”
[Beep, Spirit Power +1.]
“Lowly human~ Obey my command~ Open the prison door~”
[Beep, Spirit Power +1.]
Huh? Looks like you can farm Spirit Power from this corpse puppet.
He inserted the key, then pulled it out; inserted it again, then pulled it out.
The corpse puppet’s eyes showed excitement mixed with confusion.
What’s going on? Every time it’s almost done, but this human keeps pulling the key out again.
Could it be that his spiritual attacks aren’t strong enough yet?
Damn it! Hurry up and open!
So the corpse puppet increased the spiritual pressure. After half an incense stick’s time, its mouth was foaming, finally seeing the dawn.
Liu Yiyun was busy turning the key with a “click.”
Finally... he could leave the Demon Suppression Prison. As soon as he opened the door, the corpse puppet would consume this lowly human, transform into his form, and swagger right out.
“Hehehe, even the cultivators guarding the prison won’t suspect a thing. Hehehe, I’m so clever,” the corpse puppet thought in its mind.
Once the door opened, the man and demon were less than half a meter apart.
“Lowly human, huh?” Liu Yiyun suddenly attacked, kicking toward the demon’s groin.
Unexpectedly, the corpse puppet had only a head, no body. Liu Yiyun kicked nothing but air.
He staggered and nearly twisted his waist.
The corpse puppet blinked in surprise, “Huh?”
