Chapter 32: The Pink Envelope
Wildfield Haruhi quickly followed, only to realize after getting off the bus that Miki Ryo Kiyolingu was standing with her arms crossed, leaning against the bus stop sign.
When she saw Haruhi come out, she let out a cold snort and walked away.
Back at school, she returned to her role as the aloof queen bee. One walked ahead, the other followed behind; everything seemed to have changed, and yet nothing had.
A gentle breeze lifted the edge of the girl's skirt, a faint fragrance lingering in the air.
Ding-ling-ling!
A chaotic clatter of bicycle bells rang out as two students in national high school uniforms chased each other, laughing and shouting. Passersby frowned in disapproval, but the two boys seemed oblivious, riding recklessly and shouting adolescent catchphrases.
It was only when Miki Ryo Kiyolingu glanced at them with a blank expression that the pair nearly crashed from fright.
Brakes screeched, sudden halt, dismount, wheel push—four actions seamlessly executed as they melted into the crowd, transformed into obedient children.
Silence settled over the scene, with many covering their mouths to stifle laughter.
Haruhi couldn't help but smile at the sight. Yes, this was the original queen bee of the school!
And to think, just a plate of lamb chops had secured the infamous queen's help on the bus, with her foot...
Only one word: exhilarating!
Not far behind them, a stylish city woman watched silently, as if observing something.
Her gaze finally rested on Haruhi's broad back; she licked her lips and smiled invitingly.
“Narrator!”
“Hassake!”
At their desks, Kunitani Ichiro and Heisuke Yoji rubbed their hands together as if a battle was about to erupt.
In reality, they’d been striking poses for over ten minutes.
Their classmates were used to it—every class had one or two such eccentric youths. Aside from a few spectators, most students were engrossed in their own conversations.
Some discussed last night’s anime, others debated Nintendo’s latest game, but the loudest voices speculated,
“Wow! Did you see Yuriko’s outfit today? Looks like she’s wearing white stockings. If she stepped on my shoulder, it’d be heaven!”
“I still think Mai Hanai’s idol photos are more eye-catching…”

“Seriously, you dare talk about her? Want to die?”
“We’re just chatting, that’s all…” The boy seemed intimidated. “By the way, did you hear we have a new English teacher…”
Not blending in with the class, Haruhi lay quietly on his desk, eyes complicated as he stared at the pink envelope in his hand.
Indeed, it was a confession letter, brimming with a young girl’s budding emotions.
“Haruhi, what’s that you’re holding?” Kunitani Ichiro, seeing Haruhi slumped at the desk, couldn’t help but ask.
“Huh?! Is that a confession letter?!” Heisuke Yoji leaned over, shouting in shock.
“Idiot! Why are you yelling?” Haruhi quickly covered Heisuke’s mouth.
But it was already too late.
The noisy classroom fell silent.
All eyes turned toward them, especially Miki Ryo Kiyolingu. If looks could kill, Haruhi would have been obliterated seven times in three minutes.
The hush lasted only a moment before everyone returned to their business, though glances kept drifting their way.
Except for two: Miki Ryo Kiyolingu and Ogata Yuriko.
The queen’s expression grew colder, occasionally turning to glare at Haruhi.
Her eyes seemed to say,
“If you open that envelope, you’re dead!”
Haruhi swallowed and stuffed the pink envelope into the drawer.
Ogata Yuriko, meanwhile, never turned around, her head bowed, lost in thought. If one looked closely, her neck was flushed with embarrassment.
“Who’d have thought Haruhi would get a confession letter?” Terashima Kanae muttered.
“Though lately, Haruhi really does look more handsome.”
“Kiyolingu, what are you staring at?” Mai Hanai waved her hand.
“Nothing.” Miki Ryo Kiyolingu turned, forcing a smile. “I’m just curious who’d write a love letter to this creepy pervert.”
“Creepy?” Mai Hanai looked over, meeting Haruhi’s gaze.

A cherry blossom petal drifted in through the window, landing right in front of Haruhi. Mai Hanai’s cheeks flushed. “I really think Haruhi’s gotten more handsome lately—maybe it’s just my imagination.”
“He’s nothing but a pervert.” Hearing Haruhi praised, Miki Ryo Kiyolingu felt secretly pleased, but outwardly remained aloof and cold.
“Miki, do you know something?” Terashima Kanae leaned in, curious.
“What do you mean?”
“About Haruhi? Why else would you call him a pervert? Something must have happened!!” Terashima Kanae insisted.
Ding ding ding!
The bell rang, signaling class. Students returned to their seats, and Terashima Kanae had to swallow her questions for now.
Miki Ryo Kiyolingu breathed a sigh of relief, then cast a fierce glare at Haruhi, threatening him with her eyes before turning away to prepare for class.
Haruhi slipped his hand into the envelope, searching inside.
Truth be told, when he found the letter in his locker ten minutes ago, he was as shocked as Heisuke Yoji.
But thinking about it, it made sense—his charm rating was now 91, making him a Tokyo heartthrob.
Under such circumstances, receiving a love letter was only natural. He’d have to get used to it, learn to keep his composure.
Still, Haruhi was curious—who could have written it? His gaze settled on the small figure in the front row.
The morning lessons were math and Japanese, the teacher delivering passionate lectures.
Seated in the “king’s throne,” Haruhi took notes diligently with his carbon pen.
Math was his strong suit, compensating for his abysmal English. No matter past life or present, English had always been his nemesis.
He’d heard from Heisuke that the class had a new English teacher, rumored to be quite attractive.
Coincidentally, there was an English class that afternoon—he’d finally catch a glimpse.
The morning passed in a blur.
At lunch, Haruhi went to the cafeteria as usual, bringing back two trays.
As he reached the classroom door, he spotted a sneaky figure rummaging through his desk.
The little thief stuck her bottom out, burying her head under the desk, but the golden strands of hair gave her away.
