Chapter 150: The One You Shouldn’t Have Provoked
Unlike the dazzling lights, loud music, and bustling nightlife outside, the atmosphere here was exceptionally comfortable and leisurely.
Lazy, slow music played, bathed in dim, mellow lighting. A few female guests sat elegantly in booths, quietly chatting in hushed tones.
But this serene scene abruptly shifted with the arrival of Hu Bing’er and Jiang Mohe.
The music switched from jazz to fast-paced rock, and the lights began to flicker and change.
The women who had been quietly seated all lifted their heads, locking their gazes onto Jiang Mohe. Their looks ranged from curious scrutiny to blatant appraisal, mixed with envy and jealousy.
Hu Bing’er was one of the bar’s managers, well-known among the regular patrons. The man by her side today, however, was a stranger.
Perhaps outsiders didn’t realize that in this bar, male guests could be shared—as long as the female companion consented.
Faced with the covetous stares of the women directed at her companion, Hu Bing’er did not grow angry; instead, she looked rather pleased.
“Baby, look at those women—each one’s practically dying to pounce on you as if to devour you!”
Her soft, delicate voice was a world apart from the fierce temperament she had shown moments earlier outside the bar.
Jiang Mohe’s expression behind his mask remained unchanged as his eyes swiftly scanned the entire bar before lowering. “Is this bar only one floor?”
“There’s another floor upstairs,” Hu Bing’er replied, her fingers painted in gold nail polish tracing his arm. “Want to go up?”
Jiang Mohe caught her restless fingers with a look of rejection in his eyes.
“Heh, you get shy now?” Hu Bing’er laughed, retracting her hand and leading him upstairs.
The upper floor housed private rooms. The open door revealed an empty room, while those closed tight were already in use.
If one listened carefully, blush-inducing sounds could be heard. Jiang Mohe had no choice but to listen closely, needing to determine if anyone was hiding on this floor.
“Bing’er!” Jiang Bin, the manager in charge of this floor, greeted as he came up. “Why are you here in person today?”
Hu Bing’er rarely visited the second floor herself. When she brought male guests, the waitstaff usually escorted them up. She didn’t like to get involved, as this was a place of business.
Seeing Hu Bing’er in person, Jiang Bin found it odd.
Hu Bing’er pointed to a more secluded private room. “Turn off the cameras,” she instructed Jiang Bin.
Jiang Bin hesitated briefly, then quickly responded, “Got it.”
Hu Bing’er then pulled Jiang Mohe toward that room while Jiang Bin switched off the surveillance, the monitor screen turning black.
Jiang Mohe followed Hu Bing’er inside the private room.
Though called a private room, it resembled a hotel room—minus a bed—but equipped with everything else, including necessary supplies and some forbidden implements.
Hu Bing’er did not rush to make a move. She let go of Jiang Mohe, walked to the bar cabinet, poured two glasses of wine, and brought one to him.
“First time here, right?” she asked.
Jiang Mohe stared at the glass of red wine in her hand but did not take it. “I said I don’t drink.”
Hu Bing’er laughed softly and tried to persuade him, “Wine is a good thing; it helps us enjoy ourselves!”
She lifted the glass to his lips.
Suddenly, the glass slipped and spilled wine everywhere.
Hu Bing’er staggered back two steps, legs weak. She grasped the sofa behind her, staring at Jiang Mohe in disbelief.
“When did you—”
Jiang Mohe looked at her gold-polished fingers. Hu Bing’er recalled that when he had grabbed her fingers earlier, she felt a faint numbness.
She had thought it was just his strength, but it seemed that was the moment she was ensnared.
Gritting her teeth, Hu Bing’er steadied herself and demanded, “Who exactly are you?”
Before she collapsed unconscious, Jiang Mohe said, “Someone you shouldn’t have provoked.”
-----
With the surveillance turned off, Jiang Bin was left in uneasy suspense, unable to see what was happening inside.
Unlike other managers or waitstaff, Jiang Bin was planted here by someone else. His mission was not only to monitor the bar’s operations but also to keep close watch on Hu Bing’er’s every move.
Today, Hu Bing’er had unusually brought a male guest into a private room—her intentions were obvious.
Jiang Bin could have turned on the cameras to spy, but Hu Bing’er was no ordinary woman; she would detect it. Without concrete evidence, he could not report anything.
After five minutes, unable to bear it any longer, he approached the private room door with a recorder and pressed it close to the door.
There was no sound at all.
Just as he was puzzled, the door suddenly swung open, and he was dragged inside. Before he could see anything, a blow to the head knocked him unconscious.
Jiang Mohe tore off Jiang Bin’s uniform and put it on himself. Then he threw Jiang Bin onto the large sofa, along with Hu Bing’er.
The uniform was tight but wearable.
-----
Jiang Mohe emerged from the private room and headed to the service desk. The surveillance platform displayed detailed images of every private room.
He automatically skipped over rooms with unsavory scenes and searched others, noticing one that seemed suspicious.
In that private room, there was a single man sitting on the sofa, not playing with his phone, but staring fixedly at one particular spot.
Jiang Mohe checked the floor plan; the room was at the far end of the corridor on the right. The surrounding rooms were all empty.
He decided to investigate.
From the service desk drawer, he took a bottle of men’s cologne—Jiang Bin’s.
After spraying it a couple of times, the fragrance around him became overwhelmingly strong, as if he had fallen into a pool of perfume. This masked his alien aura.
Holding the stun gun he had found on Jiang Bin earlier, Jiang Mohe approached the room next door, opening and closing the door.
The man inside heard the noise, rose, and walked to the door, stopping just inside to listen.
Without hesitation, Jiang Mohe kicked open the door. The man grunted as the door pinned him to the floor, leaving him unable to rise.
Jiang Mohe quickly scanned the room and then fired a shot at the man.
After a brief struggle, the man fell silent.
Jiang Mohe searched thoroughly but found nothing. Checking the location of Xianyu Qing’s signal, it had indeed disappeared nearby.
He sat down and followed the man’s gaze from the surveillance footage, noticing it fixed on a wall adorned with forbidden implements.
Carefully feeling along the wall, Jiang Mohe finally found a hidden switch beneath one of the items.
With a gentle press, the wall slid open to reveal a secret chamber. The space was narrow but contained a bed.
On the bed lay a person facing inward; from the silhouette, it was a woman. Her aura was clearly not Xianyu Qing’s.
Jiang Mohe turned to leave when the woman suddenly rolled over, holding a small launcher in her hand.
Prepared for this, Jiang Mohe dodged her attack and shot her arm.
She collapsed, struck down.
Jiang Mohe recognized her as the woman who had disappeared along with Xianyu Qing—Rolina!
