Chapter 125: The Cuckoo in the Nest
At midnight, Ah Si completed his mission and reported back at the Dihong Building. Entering the top-floor office, he saw a familiar dark figure standing beside Nangong Ao and was instantly overjoyed.
“Brother He?!” Ah Si could hardly believe his eyes.
Earlier, the rescue team leader had reported that when they found Jiang Mohe, he had several fatal wounds and it was uncertain if he would survive.
How could he be standing here so well now? Even as an abnormal being, he couldn’t have recovered so quickly!
Jiang Mohe nodded slightly to Ah Si and continued listening to Nangong Ao’s briefing.
“We still don’t know what special abilities he possesses, but he’s quite cunning. Be cautious.”
“Understood.” Jiang Mohe nodded knowingly and then left the room.
“Boss, Brother He…” Ah Si started to speak but stopped.
He didn’t want to pry into Jiang Mohe’s affairs since his identity was somewhat special. Probably, the boss didn’t want them getting too close to him.
Ah Si then reported on his mission: “Boss, you were right. There really is a rear garden in the Zhai family mansion. A few days ago, Zhai Muli converted it into an independent residence.
Moreover, the security system there is very tight. It won’t be easy to get in for investigation!”
“Hm, leave this matter to Cang Yu.”
“Yes.” Ah Si felt that only Jiang Mohe could handle this.
Nangong Ao stared at several photos on the desk for a long time before dialing Cui Hao’s number.
“Hello, who is this?” The voice on the other end was heavy with fatigue.
After days of overtime, Cui Hao was exhausted and didn’t immediately recognize the caller.
“Before work tomorrow, go to Angel Hospital first.”
Hearing his boss’s voice, Cui Hao instantly woke up: “Shall I pick you up there?”
“No, bring Xiang Yun’er to the Nangong residence.”
“Ah?” Cui Hao was stunned.
If they brought Miss Xiao Er to the residence, what about the young lady? Before he could react further, Nangong Ao had already hung up.
Hearing Nangong Ao’s call, Ah Si cautiously asked, “Boss, are you worried they’ll target Miss Xiao? But isn’t the hospital safer?”
After all, the research department there had some formidable people!
“That place can’t stop the Xiao family!” Nangong Ao’s finger pointed to one of the photos on the desk. It showed a woman wearing a face-covering hat sitting in the corner of a high-end teahouse. Opposite her, an elegant woman in a qipao handed her a bottle resembling perfume.
Though the woman’s face was partly hidden, Nangong Ao recognized the bracelet on her sleeve. He had accompanied Xiao Zhiyun personally to pick it out.
His finger pressed slightly, and frost quickly formed on the photo’s surface, mirroring the coldness in his eyes.

The next day, while Xianyu Qing was chatting with visitors Mao Wandou and Lu Yansen, Hua Xiaocui rushed over in a hurry.
Upon meeting, Hua Xiaocui immediately shouted, “Miss, when are you getting discharged?”
Xianyu Qing thought she missed her and smiled, “Big brother told me to rest a few more days in the hospital.”
Ignoring the others in the room, Hua Xiaocui hurriedly complained, “Miss, the Xiao family’s second young lady has moved into the residence!”
“Zhiyun sister moved in?” Xianyu Qing was surprised.
Since Madam Nangong seemed unwilling to accept Xiao Zhiyun yet, would she be displeased with her moving in?
But Hua Xiaocui was more upset about this: “Aunt Rong has cleared your room for Miss Xiao Er and asked you to move to that small room on the third floor.”
Aunt Rong had her reasons—she didn’t want Xiao Zhiyun and Nangong Ao to become too close. But Hua Xiaocui was more concerned about her miss’s room being taken over.
Mao Wandou shared the sentiment: “Xianyuer, that Xiao Er is really taking over the nest!”
Xianyu Qing laughed, “Taking over the nest? Don’t say such things!”
“Isn’t it? You’re the official girlfriend of Young Master Ao, yet Miss Xiao moved in and took your room!” Mao Wandou said indignantly.
“Right, right!” Hua Xiaocui nodded vigorously in agreement.
Though she didn’t understand the word “official,” she strongly agreed with the latter part.
Lu Yansen timidly asked, “Xianyuer, are you and Scholar Xi really a couple?”
Since meeting her idol, Lu Yansen had instinctively sided with her.
Mao Wandou tapped his head: “What do you know? Haven’t you seen how those fans attacked Xianyuer online? Scholar Xi is good, but he can’t control those crazy fans!”
Though Mao Wandou often teased Xianyu Qing and Xi Junle, when it came down to it, she thought Nangong Ao was better.
After all, once the news about him and Xianyu Qing came out, no one dared to slander her behind her back. Everyone was too envious!
Lu Yansen wanted to support his idol, but after hearing Mao Wandou’s words, he dared not say another word.
Ning Wenyan was more rational: “Qingqing is just a distant relative of the Nangong family. She should be grateful for the young master’s care. Whatever the young master arranges is fine.”
Xianyu Qing reminded Hua Xiaocui: “Xiaocui, since Zhiyun sister moved in and Su Cha is still recovering, Aunt Rong will definitely need help. You should go back and assist.”
“But…” Hua Xiaocui was reluctant.
Seeing her loyalty, Xianyu Qing comforted her: “Zhiyun sister is unwell and needs a quiet, comfortable environment. Aunt Rong’s arrangement is most appropriate!
Besides, Zhiyun sister is gentle and understanding. After spending time with her, you’ll like her too.”
Since Xianyu Qing said so, Hua Xiaocui could only accept: “Alright, I’ll go back first.”
After Hua Xiaocui left, Mao Wandou continued: “Xianyuer, Zuo Jingjing will definitely come looking for trouble. You must be careful.”
It was said that after Zuo Jingjing was expelled from Li Yang Academy and no school would accept her, she enrolled in a third-rate university in the north of the city.
After disappearing for a while, someone in their high school group chat said they saw her, noting she had luxury car rides and bodyguards.
That wasn’t the point. The key was that someone claimed she had hooked up with the Jiang family from the north of the city!
Lu Yansen warned Xianyu Qing: “Rumor has it the Jiang family in the north has a complicated background. Should you tell Young Master Ao and have him send you more bodyguards?”
They hadn’t met Jiang Mohe but had seen Su Cha and felt she was just a girl. If Zuo Jingjing really had ties with the Jiang family, one bodyguard wouldn’t be enough to protect Xianyu Qing.
Xianyu Qing appreciated their concern and nodded: “Okay, I’ll be careful.”
In the afternoon, Mao Wandou and Lu Yansen left while Ning Wenyan rested.
Xianyu Qing lay awake on her hospital bed.
She wanted to message Jiang Mohe but remembered his phone had broken last time and he probably hadn’t bought a new one yet.
She wanted to visit but didn’t want to be teased by Yuan Man.
While hesitating, a notification sounded: “Ding dong!”
She opened it to find a message from an unknown number. The first few words read: “New book has arrived. Would you like to borrow it?”
