Chapter 84: The Inherently Wicked Old Ghost of Darkness (11)
Belial was well aware of his own body.
Ever since he absorbed the remnant soul of the Reblandian years ago and gained the power of darkness, transforming into the strongest Leonis, his body had hardly suffered any damage. For instance, the beams fired by those Ultramen from the Land of Light were easy for Belial to deflect. It had been a long time since his last invasion of the Land of Light, and his impression of the Ultramen there remained at the stage when Zoffy's chest still lacked a star. He had only heard Cain mention that the Space Defense Force had gained more Ultra Brothers, but he knew little about Taro and the others' true strength.
At this moment, Belial, having questioned Jojo, refrained from pursuing further and realized that the surroundings seemed to be outside the boundaries of the Land of Light.
"An unknown and unfamiliar space—looks a bit like the Ultra Arena," he mused, raising his head to observe his surroundings before turning to Jojo. "Kid, where in the Land of Light is this?"
The split on his claw from earlier had already been repaired by the power of darkness.
"If you beat me, I'll tell you," Jojo replied, lifting his arm and beckoning Belial with his palm.
A fierce gleam flashed in Belial's crimson eyes.
"Foolish child!"
He raised his hand and grasped, producing a black rod. "I don't know why I have this thing, but it's perfect for dealing with you!"
With these words, Belial firmly gripped the Ultimate Battle Device, extending it into a long staff.
Seeing this, Jojo's expression grew grave.
Damn it, wasn't that thing still sealed in the Valley of Flames? How could it be simulated here as well?
This was far too realistic! Judging by this, the Ultra Father conjured in the previous training arena must have been at his peak.
An uninjured Grand Bull—truly ferocious.
Thinking this, Jojo gathered energy in his palms before his chest and flung a Eight-Part Light Wheel to probe whether this device possessed the same power.
Facing the incoming Eight-Part Light Wheel, Belial didn't bother to dodge; he casually swung the Ultimate Battle Device.
The Eight-Part Light Wheel shattered on the spot.
Immediately afterward, the device aimed at Jojo; a Super Destruction Light Bullet was launched in an instant!
The orange projectile streaked toward him, trailing flames. Jojo raised his hand, energy pooling in his palm.
A pale blue circular shield unfolded!
Boom!
The Super Destruction Light Bullet struck the shield, exploding and causing ripples like water across its surface, yet the shield remained solid.
However, the scorching flames from the blast obscured their vision.
With Belial's malicious nature, of course he wouldn't miss such a chance to strike!
His black-and-red body leapt forward—his back hunched, but his hands wielded immense strength!
The front of the Ultimate Battle Device crackled with lightning energy.
This was its most devastating finishing move: Extermination Thunder, powerful enough to take down an Ultra Brother with a single strike.
Belial burst from the blazing flames, wielding the device, and brought it down hard!
Bang!
Lightning erupted from the device, striking Jojo's circular shield with tremendous force!
Belial instantly unleashed a surge of energy, attempting to shatter the shield.
Yet all the Extermination Thunder released by the device was blocked by the circular shield!
The shield merely rippled like water but remained unbreakable.
This shield could even withstand the beams of Dark Zagi, so blocking the Ultimate Battle Device's Extermination Thunder posed no problem.
Belial, unaware of this, stared at Jojo in surprise. He changed tactics, swinging the staff toward Jojo's knee.
Jojo's reflexes matched Belial's attack speed; he wasn't fazed.
He leapt into the air ahead of time, energy gathering in his legs as he twisted his body to deliver a Leo Flying Kick!
His silver boot, brimming with red energy, shot straight for Belial's head!
Bang!
Belial held the device horizontally to block the kick, then leapt back to dissipate the force.
He was secretly shocked—had the Land of Light's youngsters grown this strong?
Belial could easily discern Jojo's age by his radiance.
'Could it be that while I was imprisoned, Hikari developed something new?'
Because Jojo mentioned Cain and Mary, Belial instinctively assumed this Ultraman was from the Land of Light.
After becoming Ultramen, the people of the Land of Light relied on technology for reproduction.
To put it simply, combining the light genes of male and female Ultras, they cultivated offspring in a nursery.
Moreover, it didn't have to be strictly limited; even a single Ultra's genes could produce offspring.
In short, technology made Ultras.
Belial believed only the Blue Tribe of Ultramen, especially Hikari, could have advanced the Land of Light's technology.
He remembered Hikari as being of the same generation as Zoffy.
Though Belial himself belonged to the Silver Tribe before turning dark, he also excelled in technology.
He saw not only the power of light in Jojo, but also a faint trace of darkness.
His thoughts raced, and suddenly Belial had an idea; he rested the Ultimate Battle Device on his shoulder.
"Heh heh, so that's how it is." Hunched over, he feigned a deep, sinister laugh, his voice laced with temptation. "Kid, do you want to know your true origins?"
How amusing—a combination of light and darkness, yet the dark power so feeble.
"What?" Jojo looked puzzled.
He knew his own origins perfectly well; what else was there to learn?
Belial cackled strangely, thinking he'd guessed the truth. "Aren't you curious?"
"Why do all Ultramen from the Land of Light possess only normal light energy, while you have dark power?"
"Heh heh heh, when you absorb the light emitted by the Plasma Spark Tower, haven't you ever felt discomfort?"
Belial's words dripped with temptation.
If Jojo were truly an Ultraman from the Land of Light, he might have wavered at this, but he wasn't at all.
Jojo listened in silence—when had he ever become a Land of Light Ultra?
Old Belial must have thought of something again.
Certainly a naturally evil, dark old fiend, always scheming with vicious ideas.
The last time he faced such a situation was with Dark Camilla, who believed he meant to disgrace her.
Jojo grew even more wary of the power of darkness—it must not be handled lightly without sufficient strength, as it could affect an Ultraman's nature.
Yet he didn't refute Belial's words; instead, he feigned uncertainty.
He needed time to refine his skills, and this was a perfect way to stall.
"What are you trying to say! Do you know something? Tell me!"
Outwardly, he looked agitated; inwardly, he analyzed the situation.
That Ultimate Battle Device was utterly absurd—if he failed to block it, Jojo doubted he could withstand more than a few hits.
He needed to produce a weapon.
The Light Sword was too light for his liking.
The Storm Sword had enough power but was a bit short.
Jojo wanted to forge something bigger—after all, bigger meant easier to wield, and bigger meant more powerful!
